Gummi Candies
1/4 cup sugar
3 envelopes unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup fruit juice
Put everything into a saucepan. Stir over medium heat until all the solids are dissolved. Pour into lightly oiled candy mold. Refrigerate until firm.
I used 1/2 c. of lemonade plus 4 tbs. of pomegranate juice for a little pink color (since my molds are hearts). I also [...]
I Won!
I won $25 to spend on Threadless.com for using the widget for popular coupons from Retailmenot. I don’t know what I’m going to spend it on yet. I do wish their widget was more customizable since the text seems awfully big and it doesn’t jive with the rest of the site.
What I Want to Know
Here in Austin, we have several different kinds of cops and I have no idea who does what job:
Police Officers
Sherrifs
State Troopers
Constables
then you can add to that list:
Texas Rangers
They all drive around and I’ve seen them (except for rangers) everywhere so there’s some overlap there. Just odd, is all.
Watch Til the End
Somebody’s Five Today!
He asked for the special banner that says “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” to be hung.
He know’s he’s five which is one more than four.
He didn’t listen when mom said “stop getting so big!”
He says “I’m almost six!”
He loves the cupcakes we made especially because he got to lick all the bowls.
He’s looking forward to his birthday party.
He’s [...]
Project Helmet Liner
What to do with spare black, dark brown and gray yarn: Citizen Sam posts information on Project Helmet Liner.
There are several patterns for knit helmet liners (balaklavas), neck gators (I guess it’s too froo-froo to call them cowls) and one for a scarf. They also have a pattern for a sewn or serged neck cooler.
Thankful Thursday
(I remembered today)
Things big and little, things to thank my loving, heavenly father for:
~ A knitting project done and many, many more to go. Many because many have asked me and that’s a good thing.
~ Boys who have great imaginations and can play for so long with things like blankets and pillows and bits and [...]

The Content of Our Characters
Yesterday, the boys and I did a Martin Luther King study and listened to his most: “I Have a Dream.” Here are some of the more memorable lines:
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin [...]
Trust God’s Truth
Our women’s fellowship is currently going through a study called “Maybe God is Right After All” and the current chapter has to do with the radical truth that we need to trust God even when it doesn’t make sense.
I just came across this little gem that illustrates the concept in a concrete way. Here’s the [...]
