Working on Christmas

We stopped by Michael’s so I could get the boys some notebook materials and stumbled upon a little kit to make a foam nativity set. You have no idea now little thing like this make me giddy. I wanted them to make something this Christmas but the idea of ornaments for the tree just wasn’t [...]

This is War - Dustin Kensrue

Striking, a different perspective of history and HIStory.

Today

Sad? Yes. Very hurt tummy. But it was very much helped by a BIG breakfast with second seconds. I’m hoping that’s all it is because it won’t be fun to travel with a sick little boy. Been there, done that!

Mary Did You Know?

This one makes me cry. It’s just such an impressive idea, so awesome to contemplate the humility that Jesus had to be born as a little baby, in a feeding trough inside of a stable in a wee little podunk village in one of the least impressive parts of the Roman empire, no less. And [...]

Now its Getting Christmassy!

This… this tree was put up entirely by the boys. Absolutely no help from me at all! I heard them working on it as I woke up from a nap. I love them!
They even did the lights:

The string was pretty tangled in some parts.

Such a handsome boy.

The work was taken VERY seriously by J.

He was [...]

Bread Pudding With Decadence

I don’t feel well at all today. Neither did the half loaf of french bread in the pantry. I feel all flu-y and the bread felt like a brick.
Finally! That was my cue to indulge just a little.
I had a recipe for bread pudding that was all healthy and stuff. Well, it had apples [...]

Lasagna

I hadn’t made this in a while and I was really glad I got some veggies in without the boys complaining. It’s all about the sauce! Hehe.
Saute:
1 pkg. ground turkey
1 sweet onion (it was all I had, I’d use regular yellow onion next time)
5 or 6 or a dozen cloves of garlic
Salt & pepper
After the [...]

Stuffed French Toast

Yummmmmy!
The french toast:
1/2 loaf of french bread, give or take, sliced 1/2″ thick
Dipping batter:
4 eggs
3/4 c. milk
generous helping of freshly ground nutmeg
Whisk all.
In a skillet, melt some butter. Dip the bread on both sides and cook until golden. Flip and work on the other side. Keep in oven set to 200 degrees F while [...]

Advent of the King

You know, last year I was quicker on the draw with the Christmas decor. Day after Thanksgiving, we pulled out the tree and put it up. This year we are slacking quite a bit. Mind you, getting the tree out of the storage over the garage is no mean feat: it involves a ladder and [...]

I Can’t Believe It

My “baby” turned 11. ELEVEN. 10+1. Double 1. I had a MOMent on Sunday when it happened. Here he was when he was my little man at all of nine months:

This was Sunday before we attacked his cake:

He requested the cake: yellow cake with lemon curd filling and white frosting. Thanks, Paula Deen, the cake [...]
