Why “inthatnumber”?

It occurred to me that I’ve been asked this a few times so I should probably take a second—or 300—to explain.

A long time ago in a lifetime farther away than I care to admit, I got the itch to start a blog. Blame it on the internets, of course, and the fact that it was kind of a pain to work with photos and text with an editor then upload to an FTP server, etc.

There was Blogger and I did get an account when they started because I was (still am) obsessive about having my screen name on every new fangled internet ap that needed a screen name. Blogger was all well and dandy but my obsessive nature decided to go get my own site and work with blogging software instead.

That meant I needed an URL of my own.

Actually, it didn’t take much thought at all. Ok, maybe a little. See if you can follow the bouncing ball of my train of thought:

I could have thrown things together, a la Dave Barry’s list of great band names but what’s great for a rock band isn’t great for a blog necessarily.

Rock band? Music.

Music? Sometimes song titles and lyrics come to me to match situations I’m in (if I were a Heroes character, that could be my lame super power).

Situations? Life. Blogging: talking about life.

My life? Set a part, a saint, God’s workmanship (only the good parts, i take full credit for the gnarly bits).

Cue song lyrics: …when the saints go marching in…o how I long to be in that number…

In what number? Those saints, those He has beloved:

To the praise and the glory of His name, wherein He has made us accepted in the beloved. Eph. 1:6

You can put away the bouncing ball now.
